Gingerbread Village and Snow

Got together with the gang and build a gingerbread village.  Very mini but packed in a full sugar punch.  It was not pretty by the end of the night.  Its getting cold and Christmas is approaching, so it was fun to get into the Christmas spirit.  Especially since Shelley's place is decked out fully with Santas.  They're everywhere!

Post consumption- sugar overload.  Only managed to eat part of the roof.

Also- IT SNOWED!  It was my first snow fall, and it was light and I was inside all day working on my paper, but snow is here....

Home in 10 days.  Hoping by spending 3 weeks at home over Christmas and New Years I will be shortening my winter significantly.  Can't wait for Spring!

Updates

School has been keeping me busy these days.  I'm more than halfway through which means the work is loading up and deadlines are approaching.  Although there have been some breaks for play in between all the work.  Yesterday after work and a quick trip to the shelter, I got to visit Mr. Rogers' neighborhood as part of a special promotion from WQED, opening it to the public for the first time in almost 10 years.  It was co-sponsored by The Children's Institute, in who's medical library I work 10 hours a week.  They do amazing things for amazing kids and its been a great experience working with them, and it also got me in to the special open house they held on Friday.

Today was my first Pitt Football game.  It was a great time which included a free tailgate before the game.  They provide free boxes of bbq fixins as well as bbqs.  Tailgating was great, as was the game, minus an incident of a drunk undergrad projectile vomiting all over our coats that had been piled in a spare seat.  Stupid drunk undergrads (my dislike for them has been expanding, Dr. Cox would be proud).

Free food always tastes so good

Yum! Hot dog!

Touchdown!  Pitt beat Syracuse 37 to 10.
All is well, and I'm heading back to reading.  Yep, exciting stuff going on.

Dog Walking

Finally got to walk some pups!  They're so sweet and lovable.  I started volunteering at the Western PA Humane Society and I'm hoping to be able to get in lots of play time with the doggies.  How do you say no to that face?

Cookies!

As part of the programming I planned for Medical Library and Health Literacy month at my Library, I made cookies following National Library of Medicine theme of "Fishing for Information."  So fish cookies!  And I used my crack cookie recipe, so good!

Pittsburgh Zoo

The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium offered free admission today so I thought I'd go and check it out.  So many cute animals.  Took lots of pictures!  It was a lovely and chilly Fall day.  I toughed out the mid 50degree weather with the help of a comfy sweatshirt and my super cute hat.

South Side Slope Trek

I trekked around the South Side today with my boss and her husband.  My legs were on FIRE!!  So many stairs....so steep!  But such beautiful views!  And we got to stop by 2 open houses.  One of which was an old church that is being converted into 26 condo units.  Pretty cool, a bit overpriced and trying too hard to provide modern and expensive units in an area that is not so nice.  But beautiful views...
