Coming to an end

I've been a neglectful blogger as of late.  So sorry if there's anyone still actually following.  I have 2 1/2 weeks left in Pittsburgh!  But first, its paper writing time.
But reflecting back on this past year, I cannot believe how fast it flew by.  Soon, I will be a master of library science, or so they say.  Besides winter, and now the heat/lack of AC, I've really enjoyed Pittsburgh.  The program was interesting....including the people in it....and the living situation....to say the least.

But here is a short list of things I will miss about/from Pittsburgh
Shelley- my alter-ego of sorts who shared her cable, AC and lots of other goodies with me.  Plus got me hooked on true blood
Free public transportation
Cheap Beer
Yuengling
Doc's 1/2 price burger Sundays
The Western PA Humane Society and all the doggies I've fallen in love with over the past year
Church Brew Works- a brewery in a church...need I say more?

and probably some other things that I can't think off the top of my head.
I couldn't possibly write a list of all the things I'm looking forward to back in CA, the list would never end.

Fallingwater

Sasha came to visit and we finally got to visit Frank Llyod Wright's Fallingwater.  The property was so beautiful and the house sat atop a beautiful waterfall.  It was also nice to get away from Pittsburgh, even for just a couple hours and its horrible humidity.  My exciting camera phone pictures-

Arts and Crafts

After I told Shelley about the awesome paintings the roommates and I made in college, we decided to do some paintings of our own.  So, this is what I've been working on:

I'm almost done.  Just gotta fill in the book titles.  I'm really happy with how it turned out, especially the plant and picture frame (picture is suppose to be one of the many Pittsburgh bridges).  I'm open to book title suggestions!  Real or fake ;-)

My Visit Home

I had a great 10 days spent at home, even though it involved writing 3 papers.  I was so happy to be able to attend Rick and Rachel's wedding, spend some quality time with the family and Sasha, and enjoy lots of Mexican food!  Plus, now the semester is over, which means further relaxation and fun!  Shelby arrives today!  Can't wait to show her Pittsburgh and to explore Philadelphia together!  Liberty Bell here we come!
But first, my recap on CA...

Road Trip of Potential Doom

I had a lovely and food filled weekend with Shelley and her family at the Jersey Shore for Easter.  Prime rib and turkey- amazing!  On our way back to Pittsburgh we stopped at Gettysburg to see the sights.  Not exactly what we expected, but it was a beautiful day.  Marta (who is now dead to us (GPS navigator)) made us take a scary Appalachian highway.  I'm told think- The Hills have eyes.  60miles of scary we can't run out of gas, there will be no stopping, tell your stomach and bladder to suck it up times.  Luckily safely back in the 'burgh, never again to use highway 30.  (I saw a family with mullets sitting on their front porch drinking out of an extra large big gulp- no joke).  But below- pleasant pictures.

Lazy blogger

Sorry I've been such a lazy blogger.  I've been back from vacation for what, 3 weeks already?  Sasha and I had a lovely time in the Caribbean.  There was talk of building a hut on the beach and staying indefinitely, but alas, we returned as scheduled.  Enjoy the pictures.  I'm back in Pittsburgh piled high with reading and papers to write.
Enjoying the warm water and sand under our toes
There's a tree growing through that house
In a cave
