Home cooked meal

This happens rarely being in school but actually having a real "home cooked" meal. Again thanks to Shelley and her cooking skills. Staying warm

More snow means more shoveling

We're being hit by another snow storm.  It was suppose to be somewhere around 4 to 7 inches by last night.  I don't know what the current count is, but its still coming down.  Shelley, who is from New Jersey and has seen plenty of winters, told me today this was her worst winter ever.  She also applauded me for managing to make it this far.  That is my life right now, covered in white powder, a little dirty around the edges.  I dug my car out so I could go to the grocery store.  Took roughly 40 min on my own and luckily it was mostly powder (much easier to shovel then the frozen icy mush from last time).

Freedom

This upcoming Friday Sasha and I will be flying to the Dominican Republic for spring break/our one year anniversary.  I am so happy to get out of here.  I'm looking forward to laying on the beach, drinking plenty of fruity island drinks, and relaxing with my honey.  No snow, just sand.

Sasha's Visit

My amazing and lovely boyfriend came to visit for the weekend and it was wonderful!  Even though it snowed 4 days straight, we managed to have a great time.  Even digging my car out was an enjoyable experience when you have some good company.  Overall, it was a great weekend to enjoy good food, some drinks and lots of snuggle time.  Oh, and for digging my car out and general awesomeness, I made/taught Sasha how to make cookies.  Lots of fun!

Getting into the spirit

So, I'm starting to accept that I'm not going to be able to avoid the snow, hence the new background.  It's piled high and is not going anywhere soon.  I was reading an article the other day that snow accumulation just for the month of February is already up to 30.3 inches.  And its a short month!  And we're only a week in!  I was finally able to leave my apt today and get some groceries, all in prep for Sasha's arrival.  I'm hoping we'll still be able to get around.
An interesting thing about Pittsburgh.  They leave chairs (and it looks like other household items) in the street to save parking spots. I saw it in action across the city today.  I think if I manage to dig my car out tomorrow I might indeed do as the Pittsburghers do and reserve my spot.  I'm becoming one of them.....oh help me...I think that I'm gonna to need a nice cold Yuengling.

Snowpocalypse

We had a winter storm roll through yesterday and the snow finally stopped around 1p today.  Yesterday we had huge mutant snow flakes falling from the sky!  I even had a little scare on the road.  Coming to a stop while going downhill, even slowly, is FREAKING SCARY when your car fish tails and you think you might slide onto the sidewalk.  But luckily I made it home safe and sound, and have mostly been indoors ever since.
The roomie and I shoveled the sidewalk this morning for a while.  Last I heard we were suppose to get close to 18 inches of snow.  It was well up to my knees trying to get across to the street.  But I'm back inside now with my hot chocolate and it looks like the sun is coming out.
I also got to enjoy watching lots of doggies frolicking in the field of snow behind the house.  For most of them the snow has been taller than them, but you see them making little paths to get around.  They seem to be having lots of fun.  Enjoy the pictures!  I hope everyone has a fun and safe superbowl!

Shoveling- great work out, but will be so sore tomorrow
